Managing Director’s Message
In early 2016, I went on a business trip mainly to South Asia, and finally decided to start a business in Sri Lanka.
Looking back, the biggest impression I had on my decision to come to Sri Lanka was the big smiles of the children I saw from the train on my way back to the hotel from Bentota on my first visit.
There were many things that happened from the time I decided to start a company until the company was completed, but I try to look at everything positively, thinking that these things are good learning experiences that happen in every country.
Below are my own speculations and ideas.
First of all, I think it is important to understand that economic growth areas are moving in order to see the essence.
Just as Japan formed a monopoly market in the 1980s, when comparing the growth rates of Asian economic zones, we can see that they are moving from Japan to China, ASEAN, and India.
It is expected that in the future, the surrounding countries, centered on India, will develop. In rest terms of my 50 years plus life, I have decided to focus on the South Asia and Africa West area.
Another key reason for choosing Sri Lanka is that it is an island nation.
When tracing the growth process from east to west within Asia, there is no island nation with a population of over 20 million that is not developed.
There are various reasons for this, but I think the main one is the advantages in trade.
We believe that in businesses like ours, where the economy is influenced by consumption volume, population growth and the positive thoughts of the people create it.
We have a mix of talent from many countries, so we can learn new ideas and values.
Sugano Colombo, which started in 2024, will approach the world with spirited management and ambition.
I would like to express my gratitude to my ancestors and pledge to continue to move forward with bold and swift action.
